Features and Facts

  • What the Hemp?
Hemp? What the jiggins does that have to do with luxury bedlinen? It's time to be amazed. You probably know that hemp is the fibre from the (non-intoxicating version of the) cannabis plant and has been used for thousands of years as an industrial fibre, especially for ropes, sails and sacks. Its coarseness meant no-one but the most desperate would dream of snuggling up under hemp bedsheets. But the wonder of technology means it's now possible to process hemp and turn it into a blissful bedlinen for even the fussiest sleeper. We love hemp because it's insanely soft and drapey and also incredibly strong and long-lasting - in fact, the more you wash it, the softer it gets.

  • Bedtime Miracles
Hemp feels wonderfully soft against your skin but the good news doesn't stop there. It's has excellent temperature-regulating properties, making it a great year-round choice - warm in winter and cool in the summer. Hemp contains small amounts of chemical compounds that make the fibre naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic, so it's a great choice for allergy-prone sleepyheads.

  • Sleep your Greens
Hemp is something of an environmental superstar. It's a fast-growing crop that's wonderfully abundant - producing double the yield of cotton when using the same amount of land. What's more, it uses less water and because hemp is so fast-growing, weeds don't stand a chance; farmers can avoid using large amounts of chemical weedkillers.

  • *Star Pupil*
We rigorously test our bed linen to make sure it has what it takes to supercharge your sleep; we pay particular attention to colour fastness, longevity and washability.

The Look & Feel

  • Bedtime Bliss

There's nothing coarse about this bedlinen. Buttery soft and incredibly supple, our hemp bedlinen has a lightly textured handfeel similar to linen. It has a wonderful drape that's cooling in the summer and warm in the winter.

  • Charmingly Casual

This hemp bedding has been woven with a plain weave and has a refined texture similar to Irish linen with fewer slubs than you might see on our French Linen range. Because of its ability to absorb moisture from the atmosphere around it, hemp has a lightly rumpled and creased charm. Hemp is an incredibly strong fibre and doesn't "give" in the same way as linen so it keeps its shape better with less "bagging" than you'd expect to see on linen bedding.

  • Traditional Touch

We've added a delicate hemstich detail to this bedlinen range for a traditional finish. The duvet cover and Oxford pillow cases are hemstitched along the borders, the housewife pillowcase has a hemstitched detail on the unfolded edge of the opening and the flat sheets are finished with hemstitching on the top edge creating a 5cm border. The fitted sheets are elasticated around the full edge of the sheet for a perfect fit.

  • Signature Ties

The duvet covers are fastened with tie closures so you don't need to worry about ironing around fiddly buttons. Pillow cases have an envelope closure for a neat finish.

  • 1
    Pull back the covers
Keep things healthy by pulling back your duvet to air your bed whilst you're getting ready for the day. This helps excess moisture to evaporate so your bed stays fresher and cleaner.
  • 2
    Wash regularly
Keep your bed clean and fresh by changing and washing your bedlinen regularly. Once a week should do the trick. You can wash this bedlinen at 40°C, although we'd recommend you wash it at 30°C for a greener way to stay clean.
  • 3
    Hang to dry
Do your bit for our planet and dry your bedlinen by hanging it to dry out of direct sunlight. It will dry best on an outside washing line. If time or space is tight, this bedlinen can also be tumble-dried. You'll have fewer creases to deal with if you remove your bedlinen from the drier while slightly damp and then hang it to air dry.
  • 4
    Take it easy
The beauty of hemp is that it comes into its own when left unironed for a stylishly crumpled look. If you prefer a slightly smarter look then iron whilst slightly damp.
  • 5
    Check your detergent
Always use the best detergent for the product you are washing. As this bedlinen is undyed and unbleached we'd recommend powdered detergents.
  • 6
    Keep it simple
They create an optical illusion that changes the appearance of the colour. Never use bleach on your hemp bedlinen as it will damage the fibres. It's not just detergents that can affect your bedlinen; some creams and facewashes contain chemicals that will bleach your bedlinen, such as benzoyl peroxide. Suncream and bronzers can also stain your bedsheets; having a shower before bed to remove skin products will help your bedlinen stay looking good for longer.
