Build your all-year-round duvet

The weather outside isn't the same all year round, so why should your duvet be? Mix things up by pairing your duvet with another for chillier months and using alone when the mercury rises. Remember that the type of house you live in affects the type of duvet you need. Modern, energy-efficient homes tend to stay toasty all year round, so you may find you're comfortable with a low tog duvet no matter what the weather's doing. But if you're in an older or more draughty property then a higher tog duvet combination might be more suitable during winter months. The handy ""cufflink"" system on our duvets means you can mix and match between our duvets to create your personalised duvet combination. We're all different, so someone in your house may prefer a lighter tog duvet even if you prefer to wrap up in the warmest tog combination you can find. For this reason, you should match duvet tog to personal preference, keeping a careful eye out for children and the elderly who are less able to regulate their body temperatures and have more specific requirements. Lastly, if you share a bed, you'll probably find the extra body heat means you need a lower tog than someone who sleeps alone. This is especially important to remember if you co-sleep with young children, in which case use a low tog duvet to prevent them from overheating.

Features and Facts

  • Quality Cotton
Made with pure cotton, this bedspread wicks away moisture whilst you sleep, helping you to regulate your body temperature for a fresher, more comfortable night. It creates a wonderfully light layer so you can move easily during the night making for a more restful night's sleep.

  • True Story!
'Matelasser' is the French verb 'to quilt', and traditional Matelassé bedspreads were developed in Marseilles, France in the 18th century. The technique began as a quilting method to create beautiful motifs when stitching fabrics together. In the late 1740s a man named Robert Elsden re-invented the technique on a loom by weaving the cloth, making production much more affordable. Today, Matelassé bedspreads are known for their intricate patterns and raised weave; a timeless staple for any bedroom.

  • Marvellous Matelassé
This raised texture of this elegant Matelassé bedspread is created by weaving multiple yarns together, creating a complicated woven structure around thicker yarns that add height and dimension to the motif. A special post-weave wash raises the pattern even more for the distinctive quilted look that Matelassé is known for.

  • Easy Does It
This lightweight bedspread is easy to keep clean - just pop it into your washing machine.

The Look & Feel

  • A Lighter Layer

This bedspread is ideal as a lightweight 400gsm layer, especially when paring with just a flat sheet in the balmy summer months or as an extra layer to use when the weather's cooler. It has a thick, textured flat profile.

  • Softly Softly

The woven cotton is even softer to the touch thanks to the stonewash finish - just the thing for snuggling under as you drift off to sleep.

  • Flowers Everywhere

The raised floral pattern on this bedspread is perfect for adding subtle interest to an all-white bedroom look or as a contrasting layer on coloured bedding.

  • Made to Last

We've finished these generously sized bedspreads with neat mitred corners and double stitched hems.

The Look & Feel

  • Tailored to you
Cold feet? Not for you. Use the handy cufflink fastenings to pair this duvet with another to create your personalised all-season duvet. The choice of togs in this range gives you the flexibility to go from a 3.0 tog all the way up to an 18.0 tog duvet.
  • Luxurious
The 90% down content makes a lightweight, but very insulating, duvet thanks to the lofty down clusters it's filled with.
  • Breathable
Wrapped in a luxurious 280 thread count cotton casing for a lightweight and breathable finish.
  • Meticulous
To make the most of this premium goose down filling, the 3.0 and 4.5 tog contain their fill within stitched through boxes. The 9.0, 10.5 and 13.5 duvets are made with baffle walls to allow the down clusters to move and breathe. Both constructions result in an even profile across your bed.

  • 1
    Pull back the covers
Keep things healthy by pulling back your bedspread, together with your duvet or sheet, to air your bed whilst you're getting ready for the day. This helps excess moisture to evaporate so your bed stays fresher and cleaner.
  • 2
    Wash regularly
Keep things clean and fresh by washing your bedspread when needed, especially if you use it during the summer with a flat sheet. Generally, you should find that a wash every couple of months is enough. You can wash this bedspread at 30°C as modern detergents are excellent at cleaning at low environmentally friendly temperatures. We recommend using a large capacity machine or taking your bedspread to be professionally cleaned. This throw can also be professionally dry-cleaned.
  • 3
    Dry flat
Matelassé doesn't like to be stretched, and when washed, the weight of the water will stretch out your bedspread. So dry it flat and it will stay looking lovely for longer. You can gently reshape this bedspread while damp if you need to. Drying flat isn't only good for your throw, it's good for our planet too. You can however dry this throw in a tumble drier on a low heat if you prefer.
  • 4
To iron or not to iron?
Keep the textured weave at its best and avoid using an iron on this beautiful bedspread. If you prefer to iron it, use a cool iron with no pressure, allowing the steam to do the hard work instead.
  • 5
    Check your detergent
Always use the best detergent for the product you are washing. As this bedspread is white, we recommend you use a powdered detergent.
  • 6
    Extra careful
Never use biological detergent, bleaches, stain removers or optical brighteners as they will damage the fabric and colour over time. It's not just detergents that can affect the fabric on your bedspread; some creams, suncreams and facewashes contain chemicals that will bleach your bedspread, such as benzoyl peroxide. Make up and bronzers can also stain your bedspread; having a shower before bed to remove skin products will help your bedspread stay looking good for longer.
