Features and Facts
-
Quality Cotton
Made with pure cotton, this bedspread wicks away moisture whilst you sleep, helping you to regulate your body temperature for a fresher, more comfortable night. It creates a wonderfully light layer so you can move easily during the night making for a more restful night's sleep. -
True Story!
'Matelasser' is the French verb 'to quilt', and traditional Matelassé bedspreads were developed in Marseilles, France in the 18th century. The technique began as a quilting method to create beautiful motifs when stitching fabrics together. In the late 1740s a man named Robert Elsden re-invented the technique on a loom by weaving the cloth, making production much more affordable. Today, Matelassé bedspreads are known for their intricate patterns and raised weave; a timeless staple for any bedroom. -
Marvellous Matelassé
This raised texture of this elegant Matelassé bedspread is created by weaving multiple yarns together, creating a complicated woven structure around thicker yarns that add height and dimension to the motif. A special post-weave wash raises the pattern even more for the distinctive quilted look that Matelassé is known for. -
Easy Does It
This lightweight bedspread is easy to keep clean - just pop it into your washing machine.

The Look & Feel
-
A Lighter Layer
This bedspread is ideal as a lightweight 400gsm layer, especially when paring with just a flat sheet in the balmy summer months or as an extra layer to use when the weather's cooler. It has a thick, textured flat profile.
-
Softly Softly
The woven cotton is even softer to the touch thanks to the stonewash finish - just the thing for snuggling under as you drift off to sleep.
-
Flowers Everywhere
The raised floral pattern on this bedspread is perfect for adding subtle interest to an all-white bedroom look or as a contrasting layer on coloured bedding.
-
Made to Last
We've finished these generously sized bedspreads with neat mitred corners and double stitched hems.
Care
-
1Pull back the coversKeep things healthy by pulling back your bedspread, together with your duvet or sheet, to air your bed whilst you're getting ready for the day. This helps excess moisture to evaporate so your bed stays fresher and cleaner.
-
2Wash regularlyKeep things clean and fresh by washing your bedspread when needed, especially if you use it during the summer with a flat sheet. Generally, you should find that a wash every couple of months is enough. You can wash this bedspread at 30°C as modern detergents are excellent at cleaning at low environmentally friendly temperatures. We recommend using a large capacity machine or taking your bedspread to be professionally cleaned. This throw can also be professionally dry-cleaned.
-
3Dry flatMatelassé doesn't like to be stretched, and when washed, the weight of the water will stretch out your bedspread. So dry it flat and it will stay looking lovely for longer. You can gently reshape this bedspread while damp if you need to. Drying flat isn't only good for your throw, it's good for our planet too. You can however dry this throw in a tumble drier on a low heat if you prefer.
-
4To iron or not to iron?Keep the textured weave at its best and avoid using an iron on this beautiful bedspread. If you prefer to iron it, use a cool iron with no pressure, allowing the steam to do the hard work instead.
-
5Check your detergentAlways use the best detergent for the product you are washing. As this bedspread is white, we recommend you use a powdered detergent.
-
6Extra carefulNever use biological detergent, bleaches, stain removers or optical brighteners as they will damage the fabric and colour over time. It's not just detergents that can affect the fabric on your bedspread; some creams, suncreams and facewashes contain chemicals that will bleach your bedspread, such as benzoyl peroxide. Make up and bronzers can also stain your bedspread; having a shower before bed to remove skin products will help your bedspread stay looking good for longer.
