Content Manager - Ruth Welton - Q&A
What are some of the challenges you have experienced as a woman throughout your career/life?
Early on in my career, I found it difficult to get my voice heard or taken seriously - especially working in male-dominated offices. As I’ve grown, and gained experience in different industries, I feel a lot more confident in speaking up and being my own cheerleader.
What's your proudest career/life moment?
Struggling at school I never thought attending University was an option - let alone that I would graduate with a 2:1!
What women have inspired you?
A person I’ve always admired from a young age is Serena Williams. Who wouldn’t be inspired by her determination, strength and drive - absolute girl crush right there!
I’m lucky to have a big family and been surrounded by incredibly strong women, especially my mother and granny.
My friends are also my absolute soul mates, inspiring me daily with everything that they achieve and conquer.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Try not to compare yourself to others or feel pressured that you’re behind, everyone is on their own journey. Things come and go, so just surround yourself with loving, funny and supportive people.
With a good night's sleep, how do you feel/what can you achieve?
I’m a totally different person! Irritable, anxious, clumsy and making silly mistakes. I find sleepless nights seriously affects my routine, so I don’t get up for the gym and socialising is a massive chore!
What are the essential items in your sleep wardrobe?
I share a bed with my partner and we can’t live without our Wool Duvet - keeping us both at a comfortable sleeping temperature, especially as he’s a hot sleeper and I’m not. I love to layer up and mix and match textures in my bedroom. I’m loving the new Hemp bed linen and alternate between a chunky knit throw and quilted bedspread on top.
