- Head of Customer Services - Rebecca Leonard - Q&A
What are some of the challenges you have experienced as a woman throughout your career/life?
I've worked hard to be in the position I am today, and because of my seniority have to attend many business-critical meetings. At first, I found my opinions were sometimes not taken seriously, and as I was young and learning I didn't have the experience to go with my gut. Over the years, I've built up my confidence and learnt a LOT, so know that I can fight my corner!
What's your proudest career/life moment?
I feel I have come a long way in a relatively short time in my career. I started as a CS Executive at Soak&Sleep 7 years ago, I was promoted to Customer Service Team Leader in a short time and then promoted to Head of Customer Service 5 years ago.
What women have inspired you?
It's a cliche but my mum is my greatest inspiration. She is my rock, she's always there to listen empathically with a non-judgmental ear.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Have more confidence in yourself! When I was younger I would let opportunities pass me by as I was scared I would fail/wasn't capable of doing something. I'd like to think that I believe in myself more now.
With a good night's sleep, how do you feel/what can you achieve?
Sleep is really important to me! It's a running joke that I can fall asleep anywhere, as a child I was found asleep in wardrobes and other obscure places often!
If I have less than 8 hours I can really feel the difference in my concentration levels and general mood for the day.
When I get a good night's sleep, I wake up feeling fresh and ready to face the day.
What are the essential items in your sleep wardrobe?
I love my wool duvet; I get cold at night and my partner gets quite warm, so it's the perfect duvet to regulate both our temperatures.
I'm also a big fan of our Ultimate Microfibre with Silk pillows, I find them to be the perfect medium/firm pillows.
