Our transatlantic friends like waffles for breakfast, but we think they're best at bedtime - especially when they're woven with sublimely soft cotton into bedspreads like these. Lightweight and surprisingly cosy, they're a stylish extra layer for any bed. They're especially suited to those in-between-seasons-kind-of-nights when you're not ready for a thick duvet or extra blankets but want to add some extra cosy to your bed. They're also fantastic as a summertime bedcover - just pair with a flat sheet for cooling sweet dreams.
Features and Facts
Made with pure cotton, this bedspread wicks away moisture whilst you sleep, helping you to regulate your body temperature for a fresher, more comfortable night. It creates a wonderfully light layer so you can move easily during the night making for a more restful night's sleep.
This timeless bedspread has been woven for us in the Guimaraes region in Portugal by a family-run manufacturer. Guimaraes is famed for its rich history in Portugese textile production.
So That's How They Do It!
Waffle weaves are created by using varying lengths of yarn when weaving. When the fabric is removed from the loom, the shorter lengths of yarn that were stretched during the weaving process contract and this creates the waffle texture we love so much. Waffle weaves are surprisingly cosy because of the way the textured weave traps air making them warmer than a regular flat-woven throw.
Easy Does It
This lightweight bedspread is easy to keep clean - just pop it into your washing machine. Its easy-care virtues make it ideal for allergy sufferers or anyone who needs a quick turnaround on washday.
The Look & Feel
This bedspread adds a light layer of warmth to your bedding. It's perfect for summer nights when you need more than just a sheet or for autumn and spring nights when you need a little extra warmth.
What a Softy
Woven with soft cotton, this bedspread feels soft and comforting to the touch.
The gorgeously textured waffle weave adds texture and interest to your bed. The matte finish and neutral tones make this bedspread suitable for a wide range of bedroom styles.
Made to Last
Finished with a simple double-stitched hem for extra durability.
Keep things healthy by pulling back your bedspread, together with your duvet or sheet, to air your bed whilst you're getting ready for the day. This helps excess moisture to evaporate so your bed stays fresher and cleaner.
Keep things clean and fresh by washing your bedspread when needed, especially if you use it during the summer with a flat sheet. Generally, you should find that a wash every couple of months is enough. You can wash this bedspread at 30°C as modern detergents are excellent at cleaning at low environmentally friendly temperatures. We recommend using a large capacity machine or taking your bedspread to be professionally cleaned. This throw can also be professionally dry-cleaned.
Waffle weaves don't like being stretched, and when washed, the weight of the water will stretch out your bedspread. So dry it flat and it will stay looking lovely for longer. You can gently reshape this throw while damp if you need to. Drying flat isn't only good for your throw, it's good for our planet too. You can however dry this throw in a tumble drier on a low heat if you prefer.
Always use the best detergent for the product you are washing. If you're washing whites, we'd recommend powdered detergents. If you're washing coloured fabrics, we'd recommend you use a washing gel/liquid or a detergent suitable for coloured fabrics.
Never use biological detergent, bleaches, stain removers or optical brighteners as they will damage the fabric and colour over time. It's not just detergents that can affect the fabric on your bedspread; some creams, suncreams and facewashes contain chemicals that will bleach your bedspread, such as benzoyl peroxide. Make up and bronzers can also stain your bedspread; having a shower before bed to remove skin products will help your bedspread stay looking good for longer.
