Memory Foam Pillows FAQs

How do I choose a memory foam pillows?

Choosing a memory foam pillow is a very personal matter - you need to decide what's important to you. Here are some of the factors to consider:

Cooling / breathability - How hot do you get at night?

Memory foam works by 'trapping' your body heat, and this makes some people feel hot. If you're the kind of person who regularly overheats, you may prefer to look for a memory foam pillow with special cooling features such as our memory foam cooling pillow

Purpose - What will you be using this pillow for?

Will it be used on its own, as a pillow for a guest bed, or are you using it to alleviate aches and pains? Our memory foam pillows have a range of benefits, suitable for different needs.

Thickness

Your memory foam pillow needs to be deep enough to accomodate your frame and your sleeping position. If you sleep on your back, a slim pillow will be perfect. If you sleep on your side, your pillow needs to ensure your head is in line with the rest of your spine. Therefore, if you have broader shoulders you will need a deeper pillow.

What are the benefits of a memory foam pillow?

A memory foam pillow can benefit you in many ways. Here are three of the most common benefits:

Prevents neckpain-

Many people find that a memory foam pillow can prevent or reduce neck pain. That's because it allows you to rest your head at a healthy angle, which in turn allows your neck muscles to relax.

Spine alignment-
Used correctly, a memory foam pillow can help with correct spinal alignment. This can reduce back pain and relieve joint pressure.

Reduces snoring-

By encouraging you to sleep in a healthy position, a memory foam pillow can help reduce snoring. Because using a memory foam pillow allows you to align your head and neck correctly, you're less likely to snore.

Is it better to sleep on a memory foam pillow?

There's no such thing as the 'perfect' pillow. Every person sleeps in a different way and has different needs - this means that what works for one person may not work for another.
Many people appreciate the support they get from memory foam pillows - especially if they suffer with neck and shoulder aches. A memory foam can help with good spinal alignment and this can reduce joint strain. Some people claim that memory foam pillows help reduce headaches because they can relieve neck strain.
In contrast, other people dislike the firmness of a memory foam pillow, preferring something more plump and bouncy.

Can memory foam pillows be washed?

Memory foam pillows cannot be placed into a washing machine to be washed - the fragile foam will deteriorate, leaving you with an unusable pillow.
However, all Soak&sleep pillows have a removable cover that can be machine-washed. They're easy to clean and dry - just pop them in the washing machine and line-dry and they'll be beautifully fresh in next to no time. We'd recommend you wash the covers two or three times a year. You can also spot-clean the memory foam if it gets stained.
We recommend you use a pillow protector to prolong the life of your pillow. This will also reduce the frequency with which you need to wash your pillow's removable cover.
