We've used linen made with flax sourced from Normandy, France for a pinstripe valance that's stylish, soft and slubby. Linen has a hollowfibre structure which is stronger and more absorbent than cotton.

Designed with a fine yarn-dyed stripe in blackberry running through the off-white fabric for an understated stylishness that's versatile enough to complement a range of looks. It looks especially effective when paired with the full pinstripe set, or bed linen from our French Linen range.

Wash regularly

Keep your bed clean and fresh by changing and washing your valance regularly. Once every 1-2 months, to remove surface dust. You can wash this bedding at 40°C, although we'd recommend you wash it at 30°C for a greener way to stay clean. We recommend washing this valance before use to reduce any natural linting.

Hang to dry

Do your bit for our planet and dry your bed linen by hanging it to dry out of direct sunlight. It will dry best on an outside washing line. If time or space is tight, it can also be tumble-dried. You'll have fewer creases to deal with it you remove your bed linen from the dryer while slightly damp and then hang it to air dry.

Iron if you like

You can iron this valance while it's slightly damp for a pristine finish on the box pleats, or line dry for a casually rumpled look. We do not recommend vacuuming this valance.

Check your detergent

Always use the best detergent for the product you are washing. If you're washing white bed linen we'd recommend powdered detergents. If you're washing coloured bed linen, we'd recommend you use a washing gel/liquid or a detergent suitable for coloured fabrics.

Avoid detergents and stain removers containing optical brighteners

They create an optical illusion that changes the appearance of the colour.
It's not just detergents that can affect your bedding; some creams and facewashes contain chemicals that will bleach your bedding, such as benzoyl peroxide. Suncream and bronzers can also stain your bed sheets; having a shower before bed to remove skin products will help your bedding stay looking good for longer.
