Single Bedspreads & Throws FAQs

What size is a single bed bedspread?

Our bedding expert says: "Our single bedspreads measure 190cm x 250cm (to fit a single mattress that measures 90cm x 190cm)." This gives you plenty of overhang at the sides of the bed, and allows you to choose whether to cover the pillows for a sleek, minimalist appearance, or to fold back the top of the bedspread and make your pillows and cushions the stars of the show.

Single bedspreads will make your bedroom feel more co-ordinated - especially if you have multiple beds in one room. Use matching single bed bedspreads to pull everything together for a more harmonious look.

We've created a beautifully balanced selection of single bedspreads. Luxurious cotton velvet single bedspreads add indulgence, while our quilted cotton single bedspreads complement a vintage-inspired bedroom. We also have plenty of blankets and throws for you to choose from as an alternative to a single bedspread.

Do I need a duvet if I have a bedspread for my single bed?

Your single bedspread can be used instead of a duvet, or in addition to one - it's up to you. A single bed bedspread is dual-purpose - it's a decorative covering for a bed, and can used as an extra layer. Single bedspreads can act as an extra layer when the weather is cold - a bit like a blanket. This is a great option if you have a relatively low tog duvet. Alternatively, you can use single bedspreads on top of a flat sheet as a light covering. This is ideal if your bedroom is warm or you overheat at night. We wouldn't recommend sleeping under a bedspread without other coverings. It's important to keep your bedding clean, and it is easier to wash and dry a flat sheet or duvet cover than to wash and dry a single bedspread, which is heavier and bulkier than regular bed linen.
