Luxury Bedding & Bed Linen FAQs

What should I consider when buying bed linen?

When buying new bed linen, first take stock of what you want your bed linen to do. Are you choosing new bed linen because you want to add extra personality to a tired-looking bedroom? Because you’ve bought a new bed and need bed linen to fit? Or because you want something to help you sleep more comfortably at night? Soak&Sleep’s team of sleep experts can help you with almost any sleep-related question! Browse our selection of bed linen and let us know if there’s anything we can help you with.

What bed linen does Soak&Sleep offer?

Soak&Sleep’s range of bed linen includes temperature regulating French Linen bedding, breathable and soft Egyptian cotton, luxury silk bed linen sets and easy-care fabrics.

What colour bed linen should I choose?

White bed linen may be a classic and adaptable choice, but we have a wide range of colours available. You could choose an easy-going neutral such as grey and ivory or a more distinctive colour such as rich blue, blush pink or even high impact Burnt Orange. And if a block colour isn’t your thing, we have stripes and florals galore to add extra personality to your bedroom.

What size bed linen do I need?

Choose bed linen that corresponds to your bed size and bedding. For example, use a double sheet for a double bed mattress and a standard pillowcase for regular-sized pillows. If you’re unsure what size bedding you have, it’s best to check. Most pillows and duvets include size information on their care labels and will tell you if they are double, king size or superking. If this information isn’t available, you can measure your pillow, duvet and mattress so you know which size bed linen to use. Read our size guide for information about common UK mattress and bedding sizes.

What’s the difference between bed linen and bed sheets?

Bed linen is a collective term for the items you use on a bed and describes items such as pillowcases, bed sheets and duvet covers. Bed linen covers your mattress, pillowcase and duvet, is often decorative and should be washed regularly to help you sleep comfortably and healthily. In contrast, bed sheets are a specific type of bed linen. Bed sheets are used on top of your mattress to provide a comfortable and hygienic sleeping surface that can be removed and washed regularly. You can also sleep under a bed sheet – either using it as a lightweight covering on warm nights or as an extra layer under a duvet or blanket.

How often should you change your bed linen?

Changing your bed linen can mean two things. Changing it so you can wash it, and changing your bed linen for a newer set.

We recommend you regularly change and wash your bed linen to keep your bed clean and avoid discolouring your bed linen – weekly is ideal. You can learn more in our bed linen care guide. Changing your bed linen for a newer set is about personal preference. We recommend you change your bed linen when it starts looking tired – with holes or excessively worn areas. Soak&Sleep bed linen is made to last and tested to provide excellent durability.
