What are the different pillowcase sizes?

We sell the most common pillowcase sizes: standard pillowcases, superking pillowcases, and large square pillowcases.

Choosing the correct size pillowcase is about more than making your bed look beautiful — it’s also key to your comfort. A pillowcase that's too small can compress the pillow, making it feel firmer or even lumpy, and may damage pillows like memory foam or those with supportive cores. On the other hand, a pillowcase that’s too large creates loose fabric, which can bunch up during the night and affect your sleep. It can even slip off your pillow, leaving you sleeping on the pillow protector — less hygienic and less comfortable.

What is the standard pillowcase size?

A standard pillowcase fits a 50cm x 75cm (20" x 30") pillow — the most common pillow size you'll see in homes and shops. It's ideal for single, double, and king size beds.

At Soak&Sleep, all our ranges include standard size pillowcases. Choose from:

• Egyptian Cotton – 200TC, 400TC, or 600TC

• French Linen – classic continental style

• Mulberry Silk – helps reduce frizz and feels ultra-smooth

All standard pillowcases are sold in pairs. Choose a colour to complement your bedding or décor.

What’s the difference between Housewife and Oxford pillowcase sizes?

Housewife and Oxford pillowcases share the same internal dimensions — the difference is in the border.

• Oxford pillowcases have a decorative stitched border (typically 5cm) that frames the pillow.

• Housewife pillowcases have a simple sewn edge for a neater, more minimal look.

While Oxford styles add elegance and visual impact, Housewife pillowcases are easier to care for — no border means less ironing!

Superking and King size pillowcase dimensions

Superking pillowcases fit 50cm x 90cm (20" x 35") pillows. These are also sometimes called "king size" pillowcases.

Trying to fit a superking pillow into a standard pillowcase can cause bunching and reduce comfort. Instead, choose a pillowcase designed to fit — like:

• French Linen superking pillowcases

• Mulberry Silk superking pillowcases

• 600TC Egyptian Cotton superking pillowcases

Superking beds (180cm wide) suit two superking pillows perfectly. You can use them on smaller beds too, but the fit may look oversized.

Junior pillowcase size

Junior pillowcases fit pillows measuring 40cm x 60cm (16" x 24"). Sometimes referred to as toddler pillows, they’re designed for children over one year old — in line with NHS guidance.

A snug fit ensures safety and comfort. Junior pillows may be suitable for children up to around eight years old, depending on preferences.

Square pillowcase dimensions

Square pillowcases fit 65cm x 65cm (26" x 26") pillows. Oxford-style options will appear slightly larger due to the decorative border.

Square pillows are perfect for propping yourself up in bed or creating a layered, luxurious bed look. Use them with standard or superking pillows for extra comfort and height.
