Spring and Autumn Duvets - 7.5 Tog, 9 Tog & 10.5 Tog Duvets FAQs
What is the best tog duvet?
A mid-weight duvet will easily cover you for over half the year. Many people also find a 9 tog duvet or 10.5 duvet cosy enough for winter (possibly with an extra blanket or two) and cool enough for summer. Not too hot, not too heavy; this is the perfect medium tog duvet suitable for average temperature sleepers.
What tog duvet for spring?
Medium-weight duvets tend to be best for spring, for example 9 tog duvets or 10.5 tog duvets. However, because spring is unpredictable you might want to have an extra blanket or throw handy in case the temperature drops and you need an extra layer. Our duvet buying guide is the perfect place to find out more about choosing the right duvet.
Can you buy a half and half duvet with two different togs?
Some manufacturers sell duvets that have two different togs. These are a great choice for couples who want to share a bed, but cannot agree on the how warm the bed should be. There are other options to half and half duvets. One option is to use two single duvets. This means both partners get to choose their perfect duvet weight, and get it all to themselves! Alternatively, a duvet filled with a temperature-regulating fill, such as natural wool, is a good choice. Wool naturally adapts to each person's body temperature - helping cool those who find themselves overheating, and warming up those who feel the cold.
Are 7.5 tog duvets or 9 tog duvets thick enough for the winter?
When choosing a duvet, it's important to remember that everyone has different needs and will be sleeping in a different environment. For those sleeping in a well-insulated home that's in an area with a mild winter climate, a 7.5 tog duvet could be perfect. If you have a draughty house and live somewhere where the nights get very cold, you may need something warmer than a 9 tog duvet.
Autumn duvets can be made warmer by adding blankets, throws, and bedspreads. This can be a perfect option for the occasional cold snap and a fun way to make your bed look extra cosy for the winter months.
