Fitted Sheets FAQs
How to keep a fitted sheet on a bed?
It’s all in the elastic. Our fitted sheets are made with elastic all the way round the sheet as this keeps your fitted sheet on your bed more securely. Start at the top of your bed, tucking the elasticated edge underneath your mattress on both corners. Then pull the sheet down the bed and tuck in the edge at both bottom corners. Smooth the sides under the mattress and you’ll have a sheet that stays on your bed until laundry day.
How do you measure a mattress for a fitted sheet?
There are two things to take account of when choosing the right size fitted sheet. First is your bed width. Our fitted sheets fit standard mattress sizes, so a single sheet will fit a single mattress, and a king size sheet will fit a king size mattress and so on. If you’re unsure what size mattress you have, take a look at our mattress size guide. Second is your mattress depth.
Deeper mattresses or beds which have a mattress and a topper will need a deep fitted sheet, measuring in at 40cm deep. Regular mattresses and those without a topper will need a regular fitted sheet, with a depth of 30cm.
What is the difference between a fitted sheet and a flat sheet?
A fitted sheet is designed to fit over your mattress. It has elasticated edges which secure your sheet to the underneath of your mattress; this makes a fitted mattress fast to fit and remove for an easier laundry day. It can also help the sheet feel neater on your mattress for a comfortable night’s sleep. A flat sheet is more versatile. It can be used on top of the mattress as a sleeping surface and should be tucked under the edges to secure it in place. A fitted sheet can also be used as a cover – either on its own on warm nights or under a duvet, blankets or bedspread.
