Which mattress to buy?
If you’re unsure what size mattress to buy, there are a few factors to consider. First, how big is your bed? Your mattress should match the size of your bed, otherwise you risk damaging your mattress. If you’re not sure what size your bed is, use our handy sizing guide to find out.
If you’re not constrained by your bed size (perhaps you’re buying a new bed and mattress), then work out how much space you have in your bedroom. Although an emperor bed might just fit in your room, it’s important to make sure you have plenty of room to move round your bed so you can get in and out of bed easily, change the bedding and clean your room. You will also need to consider whether or not it is practical to carry an emperor size mattress into your bedroom. If you have narrow hallways and staircases, an emperor size mattress may not be appropriate. Instead, a Zip and Link mattress might be a better choice for you. A Zip and Link mattress allows you to zip two single mattresses together to create a superking size mattress.
What is the biggest mattress size?
The biggest mattress size that we sell is the Emperor mattress, measuring in at a decadent 200cm x 200cm (6ft 6" x 6ft 6"). Fortunately, we also sell emperor size sheets, duvets and mattress protectors. We also sell superking size pillows – regular size pillows can look lost on an emperor size mattress. Find out more about the other sizes we sell in our size guide.
What size is an emperor mattress?
An emperor mattress measures 200cm x 200cm, making it larger than a standard super king mattress (180cm x 200cm). Its spacious design provides extra room to stretch out, making it a popular choice for couples, families and taller sleepers.
Will standard bedding fit an emperor mattress?
No, emperor mattresses require emperor-size bedding. You’ll need fitted sheets, duvet covers and mattress protectors specifically designed to fit a 200cm x 200cm mattress. Using the correct size ensures the best fit and comfort.
What types of emperor mattresses are available?
Our emperor mattress collection includes pocket sprung, memory foam, hybrid and natural-fill mattresses. With a variety of comfort levels available, from soft to firm support, there’s an emperor mattress to suit every sleep preference.
Can an emperor mattress be delivered upstairs?
Due to their larger dimensions, emperor mattresses can be more difficult to manoeuvre through narrow staircases or doorways. We recommend measuring access points before ordering. If access is limited, a zip and link mattress may be a practical alternative.
Do I need a specific bed frame for an emperor mattress?
Yes, emperor mattresses require an emperor-size bed frame or divan base measuring 200cm x 200cm. Choosing the correct base helps ensure optimum support, comfort and mattress longevity.
