How do we source the best duvet & pillow fillings?

To begin with, our expert team scour down the very best fillings from Hungary, Canada, Iceland and other continents around the globe. Assuring that we only ever buy feather and down from fully traceable, accredited and reputable sources. As the conditions in these areas are so cold, the native geese and ducks have to produce extra-warm down.

Hungary

These natural feather & down clusters are gathered together by a family-run manufactorer - renowned for it's incredibly large clusters. It's washed in geothermally heated spring waters. It's then sorted by hand and in a sorting machine that helps grade the down from the feathers. We find that this is a great way to help keep them both seperated and preserved. Finally, our duvets and pillows are encased in a cotton casing and boxed stitched, to ensure the filling remains evenly spread when it arrives at your front door.

Eiderdown

The world's most exclusive fill and exclusively made to order - there's no further way up from here! Created using one of the world's rarest materials, this duvet uses down clusters that are produced in Iceland in one of the harshest climates in the world. The mother Eider ducks, pulls out her soft down, to insulate her eggs whilst they incubate. Once the chicks have left, the Eiderdown is hand-picked, hand-washed and used as a luxurious and insulating fill.

What's the difference between Feather & Down?

The down clusters are light and fluffy, and provide the insulation, whereas feather provides bulk, weight and substance in a duvet. In pillows, down offers a softer feel, whereas a pillow with more feather would offer more support - for example, our Hungarian uses feather in a supportive internal central chamber.

Our latest Soak&Sleep UK exclusive...

We have just launched the UK's first duvet and pillow set using recycled feather and down, and we thought it could make a great story! In the past, old feathered filled products would end up in a landfill (or occasionally in the dog basket) but now there is a way of hygienically cleaning them and sorting feathers to ensure the end product is good enough for people to use in the bedroom. The products use a fraction of the resources needed to rear birds, use less water and energy than using virgin feather and down and are sterilised without the use of chemicals, so they really are ultra sustainable.
